Spring 2015 PUG Meetings Are Cancelled

Many thanks to those of you who responded to our recent survey regarding the VA and NC PUGs.  Based on the responses and anticipation of poor turn out, we have decided to cancel all Allegro sponsored PUG meetings until further notice.  We hope to bring these meetings back in the future and will be working on strategies to increase attendance and create compelling sessions.  Please continue to visit PUG Central to stay up-to-date on Progress news and further developments of the VA and NC PUG sessions.  If you did not receive a survey and would like to give input, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Fall 2014 PUG Meeting Topics Are Announced!

The Fall 2014 VA and NC PUG meetings are just around the corner.   Allegro is excited to welcome Richard Banville, Fellow, Progress Software and Tim Kuehn, Senior OpenEdge Consultant, TDK Consulting Services as our guest speakers.  Rich and Tim will be presenting two talks at each meeting following our usual, FREE, networking lunch.  Topics to be discussed are a new take on "What's New In The OpenEdge RDBMS?" and "Getting Started with Object-Oriented Programming".

"What's New In The OpenEdge RDBMS ?" - Richard Banville

Progress Softare has been busy over the last few years enhancing the OpenEdge database with both prominent features that are well known, and some that are not so well known.  In this presentation we will review some of the major features recently introduced, discuss improvements in various areas like performance, monitoring, on line maintenance, data organization and governance capabilities as well as make sure you’re aware of some lesser known (or forgotten) abilities.  All are available NOW in the OpenEdge database and are capable of having a big impact to your OpenEdge deployments.

"Getting Started with Object-Oriented Programming" - Tim Kuehn

OOABL programming enables a developer to combine object and procedural programming styles in a manner that suits your needs and desires. No need to rewrite your application, just use as many or as few objects as is appropriate as you find the need for them. This presentation will introduce you to the various 4GL object-oriented (aka "OO") language elements, what they do, and how they work.

Both meetings will be held from 12-5pm beginning with a networking lunch. Please contact Amy at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to register for either upcoming meeting.
