Is PUG Challenge Worth Your Time and Money???

While PUG Challenge is void of a lot of fancy marketing and loud crowd pumping music, there are many things the conference doesn't lack.  Like, technical sessions, workshops, vendors, and networking.  I mean everyone loves a great party, but the real reason for spending the time and money to go to PUG Challenge is to learn - learn how new developments in your Progress software can save your company time and money.

PUG Challenge was born of the desire to learn.  Programmers not wanting to have to sift through the rubbish to get to the good stuff.  For three full days, you can immerse yourself in Progress OpenEdge technology.  There are over 50 technical break-out sessions planned plus 5 workshops, a vendor expo, a Partner track, commercial sessions, "Info Exchanges", an "Offsite Adventure" and endless opportunities to network with your peers and Progress engineers.  Whew! (Sounds like a good kind of tired to me!)  In just a little less than a month this will all be taking place with or without you.

Of course, with you is better.  We'll have more people to network with and you'll have no regret.

Presentations from the Spring PUGs Now Posted!

Many thanks to Gus Bjorklund for speaking at the Allegro sponsored PUG meetings once again!  It is always great to have him share his immense knowledge of the Progress products with us.  At these most recent meetings, Gus presented two talks; "What's New in the RDBMS in OpenEdge 11" and "Using Rollbase and OpenEdge".  You can view the slides from his presentations now.  You must be a registered user of this site to have access.  Go to "Downloads", then "Presentations".

The Last Week to Register for the Spring PUG Meetings!

The Spring 2014 VA and NC PUG meetings are upon us.  This is your last week to get registered.  Allegro is excited to welcome back Gus Bjorklund, Vice President of Technology at Progress Software as the guest speaker.  Gus will be presenting two talks at each meeting following our usual, FREE, networking lunch.  Topics to be discussed are "What's New In The OpenEdge RDBMS In Version 11?" and  "Using Rollbase and OpenEdge".

"What's New In The OpenEdge RDBMS In Version 11?"

There has been much advancement in the OpenEdge database over the last few years including both prominent well known features and some not so prominent ones all capable of having a big impact to your OpenEdge deployments. In this session you'll hear about the recent improvements in performance, monitoring, on line maintenance, data organisation and governance capabilities available in the OpenEdge database. You can be assured that you'll be introduced to a new capability that will improve your OpenEdge database management.

"Using Rollbase and OpenEdge"

Progress Rollbase is a cloud platform for development and delivery of software as a service (SaaS) business applications using point & click, drag & drop tools in a standard web browser with a minimal amount of code. Rollbase continues to extend Progress’ commitment to empowering business users and other people who are not professional programmers to enable them create their own applications.  In this talk we introduce you to this new, easy application development and deployment platform that can complement your existing OpenEdge applications.

Both meetings will be held from 1-5pm with a networking lunch from 12- 1pm. Please contact Amy ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), as soon as possible if you would like to register for either upcoming meeting. We want to make sure you are included in the lunch count!
