Progress Channel Executives Named "2010 Channel Chefs"


Jerry Kelly, Vice President Worldwide Partner Sales and Colleen Smith, Vice President Software as a Service, have been named 2010 Channel Chiefs by the Everything Channel’s CRN. This is the sixth consecutive year in which Progress Software’s channel executives have received such recognition.

Lufthansa's Social Networking Solution Relies on Apama Technology


Lufthansa, a major European airline, launched the air travel industry’s first real-time, location-based social networking solution for frequent flyers. The solution called MemberScout was developed by match2 blue using the Apama Business Event Processing (BEP) platform.

Progress delivered results for its first quarter, which ended February 28, 2010. According to Progress, "On a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis, revenue for the quarter was $127.5 million, up 6 percent from $120.9 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2009. On a non-GAAP basis, revenue totaled $128.0 million, up 5 percent from the year ago period. According to Gregg Keizer of ComputerWorld, Microsoft "unveiled a very early edition of its next-generation browser, IE9. So early, in fact, that it's more "pre" than pre-release, pre-beta or even pre-alpha. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to 'IE9 Platform Preview.' That's a new name for Microsoft, and one meant, as one company manager said yesterday, to evoke the 'major change' the software maker believes it's taking in Internet Explorer development."
